Board
The Chamber's Board of Directors:
1. Are dedicated to helping others and modest in light of their responsibilities as board members.
2. Approach their responsibilities in the spirit of a trustee on behalf of contributors, their intended beneficiaries, and the public at large.
3. Support other board members and staff and rise to their defense when they are unjustly criticized or attacked.
4. Treat staff members as partners by maintaining overall supervision and control, but not interfering with day-to-day administration.
5. Welcome information and the best available advice, but reserve the right to arrive at decision based on their own judgment.
6. Respect the right of other board members and staff to disagree with them and provide a fair hearing of their point of view.
7. Accept as routine that decisions must be made by majority vote.
8. Criticize in a constructive way and, if possible, suggest an alternative course.
9. Recognize that time and energy are limited, and that over commitment may prove self-defeating.
10. Endeavor to keep disagreements and controversies impersonal.
